# Edit user notifications in bulk

> Bulk-edit absence email notification settings for multiple users in absentify to onboard new employees and roll out policy changes across teams quickly.

With absentify’s bulk notification editor, you can efficiently manage how selected users receive email updates about leave requests. This feature is especially useful when onboarding new users or updating notification policies across teams.

## What this feature is best used for

* In most cases, users who are directly involved in an absence request — for example, as the requester, the assigned approver, or the assigned representative — will automatically receive the relevant notifications.

* In addition, department managers can receive regular updates about the absences of users in their department through the [weekly updates notification](/docs/en/roles/employee/your_preferences#notification-settings).

* The bulk notification editor, however, is best suited for use cases where specific individuals or inboxes (e.g., members of the HR department or a centralized email address) need to receive **notifications about requests made by certain users**, regardless of their involvement in the request.

## How to bulk edit user notifications

To begin:

1. Navigate to **Settings → Users**.
2. Select how to filter users:
   * Use the Department filter to display only users from a specific department, then select **Select all**.
   * Or manually check the boxes next to individual users you want to update.
3. Select **Edit notifications** from the bulk action menu.

You can then choose from two available options:

#### 1. Delete all existing notifications

Use this option to remove all leave-related notifications currently configured for the selected users.

* All notification rules will be deleted.
* This action is irreversible, so proceed with caution.
* Select **Save** to confirm.

#### 2. Add new notifications for the selected users

This option allows you to add additional notifications to the selected users without affecting their existing rules.

* Select one or more leave types from the dropdown.
* Define which notification stages should trigger an email:
  * **When request submitted**
  * **After request approved**
  * **On every change in the approval process**
  * **When an absence is cancelled**
* Enter one or more email addresses under **Receiver Email** (separate multiple addresses with commas).
* Select **Save** to apply.

## Best practices

* Any new notifications added in bulk will be merged with existing ones. Make sure to avoid duplicate configurations where possible.

* If the recipient is not receiving email notifications, please refer to our [guide on troubleshooting email issues](/docs/en/roles/m365admins/troubleshooting/email_delivery_issues).

* Looking to manage notifications for a single user? Learn how to edit [user notification settings](/docs/en/roles/hr_admins/settings/users/edit/notifications) individually.

* All bulk-configured recipients receive the same improved notification email format described on the [per-user notifications page](/docs/en/roles/hr_admins/settings/users/edit/notifications#how-notifications-work), including localized content, recurring-series details, and Plus plan branding.
