absentify integrates seamlessly with Microsoft Power Automate and Azure Logic Apps, enabling you to build custom workflows that connect absentify to other Microsoft 365 services and third-party apps. These tools enhance automation and efficiency for IT teams and business users alike.
The absentify connectors for Power Automate and Azure Logic Apps are pre-certified by Microsoft, ensuring secure and reliable integration for your workflows.

What are Power Automate and Azure Logic Apps?

  • Power Automate: A tool designed for business users to automate repetitive tasks and workflows across Microsoft 365 and third-party apps.
  • Azure Logic Apps: A developer-friendly platform for building scalable integrations and workflows using the same connectors as Power Automate, with additional customization options for enterprise scenarios.
Both platforms support absentify’s integration, enabling tailored workflows based on your organizational needs.

Key benefits of integration

The absentify connectors allow your organization to:
  • Synchronize absence data with third-party tools like ERP systems, CRM platforms, or internal databases.
  • Automate workflows triggered by absence data, such as new requests or approval updates.
  • Streamline reporting by exporting absence information into Excel, SharePoint, or BI platforms.
  • Build scalable enterprise solutions using Azure Logic Apps for advanced integration scenarios.

Example use cases

  • ERP and payroll integration: Sync approved absences with payroll systems to calculate salaries or adjust compensation for unpaid leave.
  • Database updates: Populate internal databases or custom-built applications with real-time absence data for consistent record-keeping.
  • Custom notifications: Notify project managers or clients of team member availability changes.
  • Enterprise-scale workflows: Use Azure Logic Apps to integrate absence data with APIs from ERP, HRIS, or custom-built systems for advanced business scenarios.
Azure Logic Apps are especially beneficial for organizations requiring highly customized workflows or large-scale integrations, complementing Power Automate’s business user-friendly approach.

Security and compliance

Both integrations adhere to Microsoft’s rigorous security and compliance standards:
  • GDPR compliance: All data is processed securely and in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Microsoft app certification: The connectors meet the highest standards of security, reliability, and compliance set by Microsoft.
By leveraging Power Automate or Azure Logic Apps, you maintain data security and integrity across your workflows.

How to get started

  1. Open Power Automate at flow.microsoft.com or Azure Logic Apps in the Azure Portal.
  2. Search for absentify in the connector gallery.
  3. Create a new flow (Power Automate) or Logic App and configure it based on your organization’s needs.

Authentication

The absentify Power Automate connector authenticates with the signed-in user’s Microsoft Entra ID token automatically — no API key needs to be copied, stored, or rotated in the connector configuration. Every request runs in the context of the absentify member linked to that Microsoft user.
The Microsoft user who creates the connection must have signed in to absentify at least once. This one-time sign-in links the Microsoft identity to an absentify account. Without it, connector actions fail with an unauthorized error.
For technical details of the underlying Bearer token flow, see API Authentication.

Need an action the connector does not expose?

The current connector covers the most common triggers and actions. An expanded version with full coverage of members, departments, leave types, requests, public holidays, workspace settings, and absences is currently in Microsoft certification. Until it is published — and for any tenant where the connector is not yet available — you can integrate Power Automate manually in two ways. Outbound: call the absentify REST API with the built-in HTTP action and an API key. Inbound: register a Power Automate webhook trigger as a webhook URL in absentify. Why this matters for M365 admins

Understanding Power Automate and Azure Logic Apps is crucial because:
  • Support for advanced integrations: Both platforms allow IT teams to connect absentify with specialized tools like ERP systems, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Flexibility for developers: Azure Logic Apps provide additional customization options for complex workflows, making them ideal for enterprise scenarios.
  • Streamlined data management: Integrations with external platforms help consolidate data for better insights and decision-making.
No additional admin consent is required for these connectors, making them simple to deploy.
