Sign-in method 1: Microsoft 365 account
This method is recommended if you have a Microsoft 365 account and your company has approved the integration.
Signing in with your Microsoft account gives you access to advanced automations:
- Automatic synchronization with your Outlook calendar
- Automatic out-of-office replies in Outlook
- Synchronization with company groups
Sign-in method 2: email
This method is recommended if you don’t have a Microsoft 365 account or your company hasn’t approved the integration yet.
The email sign-in flow depends on whether you already have an account:
- New signup: select Continue with email to get immediate access to the setup wizard. A confirmation email is sent in parallel (see Email verification below).
- Returning login: if your email is already linked to an account, you receive a one-time login code via email to verify your identity before signing in.
- Quick start without IT approval
- All core absence management features available
- Calendar integration via iCal invitations sent by email
Email verification
When you sign up with email (rather than Microsoft 365), absentify uses deferred email verification. This means you can start using the app immediately, but you must confirm your email address within 14 days. How it works:- After signing up, a confirmation email is sent to your address. You can continue using absentify while it arrives.
- An amber banner at the top of the app reminds you to confirm. Select Resend email if you need a fresh link.
- Open the confirmation email and select Confirm email on the verification page. The link is valid for 7 days; reminder emails are sent on days 1, 3, and 10.
- If you do not confirm within 14 days, a blocking overlay pauses your access until you verify your email.
Switching sign-in methods
Your sign-in method is set during your first login. You can change it later in your personal settings: How to switch methods:- Select your profile picture (in browser) or the gear icon (in Microsoft Teams) in the top right corner
- Select Your Preferences
- Go to Microsoft Account and link or unlink your Microsoft account
To switch to Microsoft, you sign in with the standard Microsoft login.
To use the advanced automations (calendar sync, out-of-office replies, etc.), your company must additionally approve the Microsoft permissions in the organization settings.
- Automatic calendar synchronization with Outlook (instead: iCal invitations via email)
- Synchronization of public holidays to your Outlook calendar
- Automatic out-of-office replies in Outlook
- Group calendar synchronization (shared department calendars)
With iCal invitations, you can still add absences to your calendar – just manually instead of automatically.
- Integration with Microsoft Teams/Outlook App (using absentify directly in Teams/Outlook)
- Synchronization with Microsoft Teams and Entra ID groups
- Automatic manager synchronization from Entra ID
- Azure AI integration for intelligent absence tracking in Teams Bot
Note during login:
If you don’t see the option to sign in with a magic link, it’s likely that your system administrator has disabled this feature in the Authentication settings.
If you’re unsure or need access, please contact your administrator.A sign-in option can also be hidden after a failed attempt. If a Microsoft sign-in cannot be completed, absentify returns you to the login page with a notice explaining what happened and shows only the methods that can work for your account. See Troubleshooting login issues for the individual notices.

Which sign-in method should you use?
Creating an account
If you are signing up for absentify for the first time via the website, the registration uses a two-step process. For example, you may start by selecting Create account on the marketing site.- Enter your email address: on the first screen you are asked for your work email. Enter the address your company uses for you and select Continue.
- Select your sign-in method: on the second screen you see two options:
- Sign in with Microsoft 365 (recommended): connects your Microsoft account for full calendar and automation features.
- Continue with email: creates your account instantly and sends a confirmation email in parallel. You proceed directly to the workspace setup wizard without waiting for a code.
The two-step flow only applies when you create a new account on the website. If you were invited via an invitation email or are accessing absentify through Microsoft Teams or Outlook, you will be taken to the sign-in screen directly.
How to sign in
Sign in on the web
To use absentify from a browser, go to absentify.com and select Sign in. You can sign in with either your Microsoft account or via email. Be sure to use the email address that your company used to invite you. This ensures that your account is correctly linked, allowing you to access absentify immediately.Sign in on Microsoft Teams
If absentify is already installed If your administrator has already installed absentify in Microsoft Teams, you can access it directly:- Open Microsoft Teams and go to the Apps section or use the Search bar at the top.
- Type absentify to locate the app and open it.
Sign in on Outlook
Since absentify is integrated for both Microsoft Teams and Outlook, if absentify is installed in Teams, it will automatically appear in Outlook. To find and pin absentify in Outlook:- Open Outlook and check the Apps sidebar or look under More options (usually represented by three dots) in the toolbar.
After signing in
Once you’ve signed in, one of several scenarios will occur, depending on whether your account is linked, activated, and how your company has configured absentify:Direct access to your company's workspace
Direct access to your company's workspace
If your account has already been added to your company’s team and activated by an administrator, you’ll be taken directly into the application. Here you can access your calendar and begin planning leave.
Account not yet activated
Account not yet activated
If your account exists but has not yet been activated, you’ll see a message indicating that your account is pending activation. In this case, you have two options:
- Select the Send reminder to administrator button to notify your admin team.
- Reach out directly to your workspace administrator or HR team to request activation.
You can’t access the workspace until an administrator activates your account.
Welcome page with options
Welcome page with options
You may see a Welcome page listing workspaces that match your organization. This means your account is not yet linked to a company workspace. If your company is already using absentify, select Send request next to your company’s workspace. You can optionally include a message (up to 1,000 characters; if provided it must be at least 5 characters) to explain who you are or why you need access. Your administrators will be notified and can invite you from the pending join requests list. After submitting, you are redirected to a “Request sent” confirmation page. You remain signed in and can see the following options:The Create a new team option is intended for administrators setting up a new workspace. The wizard walks you through company name, location, team info, and a review screen before creating the workspace. If you choose this option as a regular employee, you may end up in an isolated workspace that is not connected to your team.
If you accidentally selected this option, you’ll need to delete the workspace before you can be added to your company’s workspace.
Please follow this guide for next steps: Delete company account.
- Wait for admin approval — a cooldown timer shows when you can resubmit.
- Create a new team — opens the workspace setup wizard to register a new workspace. Appears only when your tenant allows creating a new workspace.
- Request to join another team — appears if other matching workspaces exist.
- Not sure? — opens a help dialog with a link to support chat.
- Log out — signs you out of absentify.
An email address exists only once in all of absentify. It belongs to exactly one account in exactly one workspace, and that stays true while the account is deactivated or archived. If you create your own workspace, your address is taken by that workspace and you cannot join your company’s workspace with it until the account there is deleted.
Please follow this guide for next steps: Delete company account.

- You will not see the Create a new team option.
- You will see a message explaining that you need to request access to an existing workspace.
- You can still submit a join request to an available workspace and include an optional message for your administrators explaining who you are.
